[livejournal.com profile] karabair is making me type this, because I never update. I am at her house right now--she has internet at home, the lucky thing!

So I went to church this morning--i really should post about my completely insane, wonderful church sometime--and then I went into the city (D.C.) to meet some friends--Sarah, Ginger, Nick, and the aforementioned [livejournal.com profile] karabair. We wandered around Eastern Market, which is kind of a combination flea market, street gallery, craft show, and farmers market. It's one of my favorite places in DC and none of the rest of the group had been before. Today was a perfect day to go because it was cool but not rainy--when it's hot it can be just miserable. Then everybody else decided to go home, but [livejournal.com profile] karabair was still bouncing around with Exploring the City! enthusiasm and wanted to go to the zoo. I was feeling a little tired and draggy--this has been the Week O'Random Insomnia, for no apparent reason--but I also love exploring the city, and I hadn't been to the zoo in like 2 years, so I went. Either the walk was longer than I remember or I am in worse shape than I used to be...sigh...

[livejournal.com profile] karabair warned me that she is about six when she goes to the zoo. This is, in fact, true. She dragged me with great glee to the tigers, lions, and gibbons...actually, I was not really dragged. I went willingly. At one point, she got a little to close to the personal space of an orangutan who was lounging in one of the observation windows, who responded by lunging at her and baring its large, ugly teeth, then stalking off in a huff. She was rather surprised. I did make sure that we saw _my_ favorites, the marmosets--I could watch them jumping around and interacting all day. After the zoo, we decided to stop for food, since we were both feeling a little wilted at this point--me especially. We went to Lebanese Taverna, which was delicious, but a little heavy on the stomach. Then we came back to Fairfax, and then to Carrie's, where we attempted to watch Buffy...cut short by my headache attack...not because of Buffy, it was good. Carrie was really sweet and solicitous--she brought me medicine and water and let me lie down on her couch...but I'm feeling better now! Whee! I just introduced Carrie (who saw HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban with me yesterday) to my favorite fic ever, Lust Over Pendle, which I shall have to post about someday...
