sorry....and the question

okay, so I thought I was doing the little html-thingie that Gwyn showed me correctly, but obviously I wasn't. I'll have to look at the little LJ html code page and try again.

And the question is: should I ask people before I put them on my friends list, or is it okay to just add them? There are a number of people (mostly old th folks) who i'd like to add, but I don't want to accidentally do some kind of clueless-newbie rude thing.

it's like this with pointy brackets (lj user="tikimama") ANd think of it this way. Did anyone ask you before they listed you? No? so go for it. :)

thanks--I was using <> instead of the pointy brackets, so the names just weren't appearing at all

um, less than / greater-than is indeed the correct thing to use, (just like any other html tag.) If it wasn't showing up at all, you must have been doing something else wrong.

oh, I just add people willy-nilly. Then I drop a comment in their latest post and say "Hi! I added you!" Though lots of people don't bother with that.
