bloody computer problems (again!)

well, I appreciate everyone's kind suggestions about the monitor problem. However, I have not had a chance to act upon them, because now my computer is turning itself off. I turn it on, watch the little light thingy turn green, and turn around a minute later and it has shut off. Argh!!! This always happens in the middle of the semester when I am on stuff!
