I haven't gotten as much done today as I'd hoped--got up around noon (later than usual for me, but my sleep schedule has been awful this week), had breakfast, ran some errands, had lunch, got the mail and then got distracted reading a magazine...I still have quite a few kinks to iron out of my syllabus, and school starts Monday. On the one hand, I am using a teaching approach that is much more in line with my personality and what I really want to do in the classroom, and I've found two fabulous textbooks to help me do it. At the same time, this is such a complete change from the way I did 101 last year that it is like a totally different course, which makes me nervous. Even in spite of all I have learned about teaching in the past year, I am still afraid that I am going to fall flat on my ass and have another nervous breakdown.
Tonight is the annual beginning-the-school-year party for the MFA program, and I will be leaving to attend it shortly. It's always fun to meet new people and catch up with people you haven't really seen over the summer. And I need to get out of the house.
